Montrose are the visitors to Hampden for tonight’s Scottish Cup Third Round clash. The Gable Endies who currently sit second bottom of Scottish League 2 are no strangers to the Spiders and go into the game on the back of a decent 1-1 home draw against local rivals Forfar Athletic in their last game.

Ahead of the game we caught up with Gus MacPherson to get his thoughts.

Gus said: “They’ve had a recent change of manager but got a good result against Forfar in their last game. John Holt made somes changes and they’ve done well but it’s vital that we focus on ourselves. We’ve managed to pick up seven points from our last three games and it’s important that we continue that form”.

“Montrose took a point against us at Hampden last year and like every other team that comes t Hampden, I fully expect them to raise their game on Tuesday night. It’s a fantastic occasion to play under the lights and the players will look forward to it and so will Montrose.”

Gus added “There has been a fantastic reaction since we played Stenhousemuir with a win at East Fife and Stranraer and a draw with Peterhead and the players know the importance of continuing to play to the standards that they are capable of”.

“We go into the Montrose game in a positive frame of mind knowing that it is our home game and the onus is on us to take the game to Montrose. I’m confident that should we play to our capabilities, we can progress to the next round of the cup”.
