Next up for the Spiders is the longest away trip of the season as we head up the A90 to take on Peterhead. It’s been more than two and half years since we last visited Balmoor and the only survivors from the squad that day still at the club are Messrs Gibson, McVey and Burns. It’s been a venue that Queen’s have traditionally struggled at but with two big wins under our belt in the last fortnight, the Spiders head north with genuine cause for optimism.

Ahead of the trip to Peterhead the club media team spoke to gaffer Gus MacPherson to get his thoughts on last week’s cup success , and the task ahead.

Gus described the 2-0 win over Morton as “excellent” before going on to say: “I was delighted with the win last Saturday. I felt that from the first to the last minute the team worked extremely hard against what was a very decent Morton side who had only lost one of nine competitive games prior to last week.”

Looking ahead to the Peterhead match an upbeat Gaffer added: “We’re in the middle of a very tough run of fixtures and to be going into this game with wins against Livingston and Morton behind us is extremely pleasing.

“We now face another two of the toughest games possible in Peterhead away and then Alloa at home, but given the very positive start we have made to the season so far, we will go into the match at Balmoor in a good frame of mind.

“We know that Peterhead will provide a tough test. They have a squad that possesses a lot of experience and quality but it’s a game we very much look forward to.”

There was positive news on the squad front with the gaffer confirming that both Willie Muir and Liam Brown have been added to the party having missed out last week due to ineligibility and injury.
